53 is the new 35

Nah, I'm just kidding, 53 cannot be 35 in any way. When I first heard this term, fifty is the new forty, I thought something was wrong with my ears. Even the explanation of this locution seemed dodgy. I'm pretty sure that this is a kind of self-hypnosis technique used by those who are unable to accept their age and refuse to take notice of the natural order of things. (It's always weird to see the results of what the scalpel of cosmetic surgeons did to some poor, deluded individuals.) Anyway, I found the tail of the mojo and tried to get it back completely. I completed the homework Charlette had given me a month ago - it wasn't easy to complete, though - and booked some lessons as well. I'm looking forward to these classes. Nevertheless, my mind was struggling tremendously with the homework. My brain is still not as fresh as it used to be, so I won't be surprised if it turns out to be a balderdash. The weather turned freezing. Well, it's not as cold as it is...

Tiistai 🇫🇮 Þriðjudagur 🇮🇸

I wanted to wake up early in the morning. And I did, and I even switched off the alarm clock, but right after starting to ponder on my schedule, I lost consciousness and fell into a deep coma-like state. When I woke up again, it was already 7 a.m. I hurried downstairs to make up for my early morning mistake, but it was already too late for that.  Anyway, after breakfast and the much-needed coffee, I buckled down to write the e-letter to the tax office. Even though they'd told me what to write yesterday, I was struggling with putting my thoughts into printed letters. Taxation and accountancy are not my cup of tea, and its vocabulary is so far away from me than Tokyo, but I wrote and sent the letter eventually. My English class with Charlette was fantastic. My progress since I started taking lessons from her baffles me every time during and after the class. I'm still light-years away from being a native speaker, but the gap between my English and the CPE is getting smaller and sm...

Tiistai 🇫🇮 Þriðjudagur 🇮🇸

The highlight of the day was my class with Charlette. I can't emphasise it enough, but she is the best. I never watch the clock during classes with her, and those sixty minutes fly by like a rocket. Although I was not content with my performance - mind you, when will I ever be? - I was pleased with my speech and reading. They got light-year better during the last two and a half years. My confidence level is much higher than it was. And, if it hadn't been for her, I wouldn't have been able to achieve such significant progress, let alone complete the CELTA course. She truly is a magnificent teacher.  I installed the LED lights in my office in the basement. I had to do something about the place because there are no windows here, and the only natural light source is the door that opens to the back garden. Even though there are panes of glasses in the doors, the early dusk turns the cosy office into an obscure dungeon. Now, my office looks a bit better with those colourful LEDs ...
